One New Change - St Pauls, London

One New Change is a modern retail and office development by Land Securities in the shadow of St Paul’s Cathedral. The heating and cooling system was designed by our Chief Technical Officer, Chris Davidson. It features a ground source heat pump system for heating and cooling utilising energy piles and one pair of reversible open loop wells. Closed loop pipes are installed in the foundation piles of the building (192 piles, 45m deep and 2.4m wide). The system provides up to 2.3MW of cooling and 2.4MW of heating. It has a seasonal COP (coefficient of performance) of 4.8 in heating and 6.8 in cooling.
